ZILMP: Mozambique signs Letter of Intent with FCPF



Mozambique, represented by the Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development, signed today in Paris, a letter of intent with the FCPF (Forest Carbon Partnership Facility) providing access to finance for the design of the Zambezia Integrated Landscape Management Program.


The Landscape Programme will cover 3.8 million hectares, including 2.3 million hectares of forest area and some of the largest and best preserved miombo forest tracks in East Africa.


Perspective up financing of up to $50 million through payment by results to be invested in improving the living conditions of the population through the extension service of conservation agriculture; promotion of agro-forestry systems; better planning of land use; alternative sources of energy, including renewable energy; biodiversity conservation; sustainable forest management, through the creation of a chain of forest product values; reforestation; etc. Thus, the program will provide new jobs, more extra income for producers through fair trade production.
